Instrument Repair at The Music Shoppe

Free Estimates • Walk-Ins Welcome • Loaners Available

The path to mastering your instrument is filled with many twists and turns.

Every time you pick up your instrument, you are knocking down obstacles that prevent you from playing your best. Some challenges are mental: new rhythms, key signatures, or harmonies. Other issues are physical: moving your fingers faster, blowing faster air, or strengthening your embouchure.
And even after all that, a mechanical issue springs up. It could be anything: Bent keys on your clarinet. A dent in your trumpet’s valve casing. A stuck tuning slide. Whatever it is, the reality is the same. You’ve put in the work, and your instrument is holding you back.
Our message to you:

Don’t let your hard work go to waste.

Our repair department can make your horn work for you instead of against you. With nine technicians representing over 150 years of combined experience, we can handle any repair from minor adjustments to complete overhauls.

Repair FAQs

How do I send my instrument in for repair?

If you are near any of our three locations, you may drop your instrument off in-store at any time. No appointment required. After quarantining your instrument for 4 days to eliminate any trace of COVID-19, we will contact you with a free, detailed estimate for recommended services. Once the estimate is approved, we will get to work!

If you are not able to make it to our stores, we can pick your instrument up from any of the 400 schools we visit on a weekly basis. In most cases, we can quarantine your instrument, complete repairs, and deliver it back to your school the following week.

Are instrument loaners available?

Yes! We can provide you with a free loaner for most band & orchestra instruments. That way you can continue to practice, participate in class, and go to lessons while your instrument is being serviced.

How much will my repair cost?

If you are currently renting your instrument, the cost of repairs will be waived thanks to the included Maintenance & Replacement coverage. M&R covers normal & wear, accidental damage, and regular tune-ups; in other words, pretty much everything but intentional harm to your instrument will be covered.

If you own your instrument, we will need to inspect it before giving an estimate. Once the work is completed, you have the option to purchase an Extended Service Agreement that covers the cost of repairs for one year. Pricing is based on the type of instrument. If this interests you, be sure to ask for more information when you send your instrument in for repair!
