Lucy Boucher
Flute Instructor | Springfield, IL
Miss Boucher currently serves as the Band Director at Springfield High School.
She graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She studied flute with Dr. Kyle Dzapo. While at Bradley University, she performed four years with the Bradley Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Timothy Semanik and the Bradley Symphonic Winds under the direction of Dr. David Vroman. Miss Boucher is currently working on a Master of Music Education at Illinois State University.
Miss Boucher has room for beginning band students through students preparing for college auditions. Beginning students will work on developing proper embouchure, hand placement, fingerings, and a good tone. ILMEA, Solo and Ensemble Contest, competition, and band music can also be studied in lessons if those are opportunities students wish to pursue. Advanced students will focus on proper
warm-ups, developing techniques and skills through etudes, and a variety of solo literature from different musical eras. Miss Boucher can also offer lessons on extended techniques, music theory, and music history to those who want additional music support.
Cassie Metz
Flute Instructor | Springfield, IL
Cassie Metz earned a bachelor degree in music performance from Illinois State University in 2017. She studied flute and piccolo under Dr. Kimberly Risinger. Cassie was the recipient of multiple scholarships, including the School of Music Talent tuition grant and the Charles Bolen Music Faculty Scholarship for leadership, service, musicianship, and scholarship. Cassie has staffed marching bands and was previously a street performer in the City of Chicago. Other than large ensembles, she has also performed in several weddings, pit orchestras, and chamber ensembles. Cassie offers individual and group lessons during weekday evenings. She has been playing since 2004.
Dr. Christopher Raymond
Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, & Saxophone Instructor | Springfield, IL
Dr. Christopher Raymond is the Adjunct Professor of Bassoon at the University of Illinois – Springfield and is an active musician around Central Illinois playing multiple woodwind instruments. He can be found performing with professional orchestras in the area including the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Sinfonia da Camera, Millikin-Decatur Symphony, and more. He has traveled around the world performing with groups such as the South Shore Orchestra on their recent tour of China.
In his studio, Dr. Raymond has been teaching privately since 2010, and has worked with students from beginners to collegiate level players – many of whom have gone to perform in All-State ensembles and pursue music careers. In 2016-2019, He served as bassoon instructor at Illinois Summer Youth Music.
Christopher holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts and Masters of Music in Bassoon Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelors in Music from Millikin University.
McKenzie Suter
Saxophone Instructor | Springfield, IL
McKenzie is a Springfield native and a class of 2019 alum from Illinois College where she obtained her a bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance. In her time at Illinois College, she studied under the direction of Dr. Christian Secrist and participated in the school’s Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Saxophone Quartet. In addition to her experience at Illinois College, McKenzie has also performed under the direction of Dr. Rodney Dorsey, Dr. Jamie L. Nix, and Dr. Garrett Allman of the Jacksonville Symphony.
McKenzie has been teaching saxophone students of all ages at The Music Shoppe since the summer of 2019. She teaches both in person and virtually as needed. She is trained in both classical and jazz styles and loves molding her lessons to her students needs and abilities.
You can find McKenzie regularly performing in Springfield area as a member of the Springfield Municipal Band as well as the Springfield Saxes Saxophone Quartet.
