Sara Hazelrigg
Voice & Piano Instructor | Champaign, IL
Ms. Sara is a vocalist and pianist originally from the Chicagoland area. She is located in Champaign. Her credits include collaborating on projects as an accompanist, performer, and educator. Sara has been involved with music from the time she was very young. She comes from a family of musicians, so music has been a major part of her life. She has over a decade of experience performing professionally in a variety of different venues.
Ms. Sara obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University. As a teacher, she has had a wide variety of experiences working with students in a classroom setting and as a private instructor. She has maintained an active private studio of 40 students in the Chicago metro area for 9 years. Sara’s students often have leads in musicals, and many have been selected to participate in various children’s choirs in Chicago. Her students have been awarded the Crystal Apple Music Achievement Award, and received perfect scores at state contest for piano and vocal.
Ms. Sara began singing at an early age in the church. Her early vocal performance experiences led her to leading roles in musical theatre. She later expanded into classical, sacred, and contemporary styles. Sara currently leads worship services at her church and outreach ministries. She has worked as a collaborative vocalist. Sara enjoys working with students of all ages. As an instructor, she had numerous experiences working with K-12th grade students. Her teaching style is creative and engaging. Her philosophy is consistency and a high emphasis on technique and healthy habits to develop a strong foundation. Sara’s lessons are tailored to meet the needs of each individual student, while focusing on developing well rounded musicians. Sara is excited to share her passion for music with all of her students!
When she is not teaching or performing, Ms. Sara enjoys drawing, playing piano, traveling, and spending time with her husband and little dog Pia.
