Lauren Cancio
Trumpet Instructor | Normal, IL
Lauren Cancio is currently a junior Music Education and Trumpet Performance double major studying under Dr. Anne McNamara at Illinois State University. Outside of school, Lauren was a member of the Cookin’ with Brass quintet, works as a brass repair technician at The Music Shoppe, and was a trumpet tech for a high school marching band. She has performed at House of Blues Chicago, the Illinois Music Education Conference, the Field Museum, Japan, and multiple schools in the Chicagoland area. She has been giving private lessons for over 5 years and prioritizes comprehensive musicianship in her teaching.
Joshua Mobley
Trumpet Instructor | Normal, IL
Joshua Mobley recently graduated from Illinois State University with his M.M. in Trumpet Performance and is currently an Instructional Assistant Professor at ISU teaching trumpet. Throughout his career, Joshua has taken advantage of performing with a variety of ensembles to broaden his background as a performer and teacher. Some of those ensemble experiences include brass quintet, wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, jazz big band, jazz small group, musical theater pit, etc. He has also had the opportunity to perform/present at various conferences throughout the country including the IMEC conference in Peoria, IL for 2 years (2023-2024).
Before moving to Illinois, Joshua was a band director in Arkansas for 6 years. Throughout this time, he taught various beginning band classes, general music classes, conducted middle school bands, coached small ensembles, and assisted with high school marching/concert bands. He also helped lead his alma mater to 5 consecutive marching band state championships (2017-2022), 5 consecutive years of straight superior ratings at regional concert assessments and is a previous recipient of the NBA blue ribbon award presented at the Midwest Conference in Chicago, IL.
Allison Hoffman
French Horn Instructor | Normal, IL
Allison Hoffman is a French horn player and elementary music teacher based in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. She recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in music education and studied under Dr. Rachel Hockenberry. Allison has performed on horn with a multitude of groups in central Illinois including, but not limited to, the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Heartland Festival Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Peoria Municipal Band, and the Sycamore Brass Quintet. Allison also works as a full-time elementary music teacher in the Lincoln-Elementary School District #27 in Lincoln, Illinois. Her pedagogy in both her public school teaching and private lessons includes being flexible, patient, and positive with students while providing a plan of study that maintains high expectations for continuous success.
Michael Archer
Trombone Instructor | Normal, IL
Michael graduated from Bradley University in 2014 with degrees in Music Business and Trombone Performance. Originally from Peoria, Illinois, he has performed throughout the Midwest in various capacities for many years.
Among other things, he regularly plays for professional Broadway tours that come through the Central Illinois area, including Mary Poppins, White Christmas, and Wicked. Michael specializes in performing with symphony orchestras, pit orchestras, concert bands, jazz big bands, and chamber music ensembles.
Mitchell Goodman
Euphonium and Tuba Instructor | Normal, IL
Mitchell Goodman is a low brass instrumentalist and teacher based in the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area. He is a Doctoral Candidate at Arizona State University studying tuba and euphonium with Dr. Deanna Swoboda and bass trombone with Dr. Brad Edwards. Mitchell holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Euphonium Performance from the University of Missouri–Columbia.
Beginning his musical life as a bad violinist, Mitchell spent a year as a bad saxophonist before moving on to the trumpet. During his undergraduate degree, he doubled on trumpet and euphonium, ultimately switching to euphonium as a primary instrument. While in Missouri, Mitchell picked up the bass trombone and both contrabass and bass tuba.
Outside the concert hall, Mitchell has extensive experience in the marching arts, marching with the Bluecoats and Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, and teaching with the Mandarins and Phenom Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mitchell resides in Bloomington, Illinois, with his wife Rachel, son Kilian, and cat Valentine.
